Final Announcement and Call for Papers

Eleventh Australasian
Electrochemistry Conference

Theme: Advancing Electrochemistry in the New Millennium

Dec 10 - 14 2000
University of Western Sydney
Parramatta Campus, NSW Australia

A cordial invitation is extended to all those interested in pure and applied electrochemistry to participate in the Eleventh Australasian Electrochemistry Conference, which is sponsored by the Electrochemistry Division of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute. As well as catering for those active in fundamental research, the Conference will also cover applications of electrochemistry to analysis, sensors, batteries, corrosion and industrial processes. In particular, being the division's first conference in the new millennium, it will provide a unique opportunity for discussing recent and future advances in the various areas. It is anticipated that the conference will have a local, national and international flavour and visitors from outside the region are most welcome.

Style of Conference

A tradition of good science in an informal atmosphere was established from the beginning of the AEC series of conferences in 1963. The 11AEC will continue the tradition, with strong emphasis on discussion and informal contacts among participants. There will be a series of invited lectures by overseas and Australasian speakers, plus shorter oral papers and posters. Posters will be displayed throughout the conference period, and facilities will be available for round table discussions and informal gatherings. The round table discussion sessions will cover selected topics including some of the poster contributions.

Scope of Conference

Contributions are welcome on all aspects of
electrochemistry : batteries, corrosion and passivation, electroanalysis, electrochemical smelting, electrode kinetics, electrometallurgy, electrolytes, electrosynthesis, chemo-sensors and bio-sensors, mineral processing, nuclear electrochemistry, modified electrodes, inorganic and organic electrochemistry, photo-electrochemistry and polymer electrochemistry. Invited lectures and special sessions are planned on some of these topics. The interaction between fundamental and applied aspects will be highlighted and encouraged.
