In Japan, after graduating a Japanese University where I major in Management, I worked as a lecturer of Japanese and English at a private tutoring school for a while.

Even before coming to Australia, I had been interested in English. When I decided to study it once again properly, I thought Australia is a preferable place for study in the area of Interpreting and Translation, partly because of the previous experience of studying at a language school in Brisbane.

There are a lot of jobs and workplaces which require you to have a certain level of English regardless. Improved job prospects are one of the advantages of studying English. I would like to have a job related to the area of English.naati logo

The reasons why I chose the University of Western Sydney (UWS) are firstly, there are not so many universities offering courses in Interpreting and Translation in Australia, secondly, there are even fewer courses where students can be certificated by the National Accreditation Authority for Translation and Interpreting (NAATI) on completion.

And, only the course offered by UWS can be finished in a shortest period of time (1 year). After all, NAATI accreditation and the period of time were important for my decision.

One of the most significant features of my course at UWS is the fact that the teachers are NAATI accredited. It was so valuable for me to be able to hear their wide experience, and I could learn both applied skills and useful knowledge. Many of the teachers are kind and are well-informed about what their students want to achieve, so they always give proper guidance. I can also contact them via e-mail.

The NAATI accreditation which you can achieve in this course is the most recognized accreditation of Interpreting and Translation in Australia. Even in Japan, it is well-recognized among the companies which have relations with Australia businesses. Moreover, I think the fact that you achieved the accreditation in an English spoken country will certainly be your strength.

Especially, it is really beneficial for me to know how to improve the skills of interpreting and translation efficiently, which is impossible when studying on my own.

Speaking of Australia itself, I love Australian people. There are varied kinds of people in many ways, so that I don't feel that I am a foreigner. All of them are very warm and friendly. It seems that Australia accepts me as a member of this country. After I came here, I began to be able to make efforts at my own pace by following the good example of people living here.

After finishing the current course at UWS, my intention is to find a job as a translator in Australia. I may continue to study in another area. Through this course at UWS, I haven't changed my prospect for the future. However, I can feel that I am coming to my dream thanks to UWS.

At last but not least, UWS is the shortest course for the accreditation of NAATI, and has a long history of delivering this course.
