Travel Scholarships

The following travel scholarships will be available for official UWS Exchange Programs: 20 X $2,500 International Exchange Scholarships annually.  10 X $2,500 scholarships will be provided in both Autumn and Spring sessions 2008 respectively.  Awards will be provided each session to the top 10 ranking students exhibiting a grade point average (GPA) of 5.0 or higher.  No application forms are required as all endorsed exchange candidates will be considered.  Determinations will be made by 1st May 2008 for exchange commencements in Spring session and early September 2008 for Autumn session 2009 commencements.

Governance and Security Scholarships

3 X $8,600 Scholarships are currently available to second year criminology and policing students to develop expertise in academic fields of security and governance through study abroad.  Students must select from one of the institutions below to study in the Autumn session 2009. The Program will conclude with a 4 week compulsory summer school component in July 2009:

- Keele University, England,   
- Instittut d'Etudes Politiques de Grenoble, France;
- Maribor University, Slovenia.

UWS International Office Travel Grants

UWS International provides Travel Grants to students studying on official exchange programs.  $1,000 grants will be allocated to students attending priority institutions.  Please contact UWS International for a current list of priority institutions.  No separate application form is necessary as all students applying to these institutions will be considered automatically.

UWS College of Law & Business

In 2008 the College is offering 8 X $2,500 Scholarships to the top ranking College of Business students with a minimum GPA of 5.0".  No further application forms are required (apart from Exchange Application material) as all students enrolled in a degree from the College of Business will be considered.  Please note that students cannot receive the College of Business Scholarship and the International Exchange Scholarship concurrently.

University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) Scholarships

Chile
3 X $5,000 scholarships are available within the College of Arts to undertake study at any official partner university in Chile in either the Spring 2008 or Autumn 2009 sessions. Separate scholarship application forms are not required as all exchange candidates from the College will automatically be considered.  For more details about this scholarship and to study at the University of Chile, please contact Isabel Pena in the School of Languages at: i.pena@uws.edu.au.  Inquiries for study at UNIACC can be made to Juan Salazar at j.salazar@uws.edu.au

Hong Kong
1 X $4,000 scholarship is available for study at Hong Kong Baptist University for a student in the College of Arts who is prepared to undertake at least one language subject.  Another $5,500 scholarship is available for study within any discipline at any official exchange partner university in Hong Kong .  These scholarships are available for study in the Autumn 2009 session only.   Separate scholarship application forms are not required as all exchange candidates will be considered with funding awarded to the top ranking candidates on the basis of their GPA.

Japan
1 X $5,500 Scholarship for study at any official exchange partner university in Japan in the Autumn 2009 session only.  Students from all disciplines are eligible.  Application forms are not required as all exchange applicants for Japan will automatically be considered and the funding awarded to the top ranking candidate on the basis of their GPA.

Mexico
3 X $5,500 scholarships available for students within the College of Arts to study at Instituto Tecnologico de Mexico.  Funding is available for study in either the Spring 2008 or Autumn 2008 sessions.  Separate scholarship application0 forms are not required as all exchange candidates from the College will automatically be considered.  For more details about this scholarship and to study at the University of Chile, please contact Isabel Pena in the School of Languages at: i.pena@uws.edu.au.

Norway
1 X $5,500 Scholarship is available for study at Bodo University in Norway for the the Autumn 2009 session only.  Students from all disciplines are eligible.  Application forms are not required as all exchange applicants will automatically be considered and the funding will be awarded to the top ranking candidate on the basis of their GPA.


Host Institutional Scholarships

Canada
Thompson Rivers University, in British Columbia is offering an annual accommodation scholarship for one UWS student.  Please contact the Exchange  Office for further details at exchange@uws.edu.au

Denmark
University of Copenhagen. $2,000 Travel Scholarship provided for Bachelor of Animal Sciences student.

Hong Kong
City University of Hong Kong will provide merit based scholarships to students entering the Faculty of Science and Engineering (and its constituent departments).  Scholarship amounts vary between HK$8,000 - HK$10,000.  All students must enrol in a minimum of 9 Hong Kong credits.  Application forms will be provided by UWS International.

Sweden
Dalarna University Accommodation scholarship.  Accommodation provided free of charge to one exchange student for the duration of one semester.
Lulea University will provide every successful exchange candidate with a US$1,500 scholarship

OS-Help  Loan

25 X $5,000 overseas student help loans are currently available to students having already completed one equivalent full time study load (EFTSL) and who will have the equivalent of  40 cps study load left to complete at UWS following completion of an overseas exchange program.   (1 EFTSL is deemed to be 80 credit points by the Department of Educations, Science and Training).    To apply, please use the following application form (see attached).  Application deadlines are: 31 January for the Spring session and 31 July for the Autumn session.

Conditions Apply. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and personal suitability for UWS exchange programs. Applicants will be considered on the basis of having met all advertised selection criteria, and upon successful admission by the host university. Scholarship funding is available for the session awarded/offered only and cannot be deferred to an alternative semester or overseas institution. Scholarships are available for Australian citizens and Australian permanent residents only.
