Tip 3 – Get connected
- Contact people who can help your transition – start by connecting with relevant people at your school:
- Careers adviser
- Counsellor
- Year adviser
- These people can also help link you in with other specialist teachers if necessary, for example:
- Transition teachers – may be called Support Teachers (Transition) or Transition Officers
- Support Teachers
- Head Teachers Welfare
- Talk with your family, friends, and other people with disabilities about their experiences after school and about help that is available.
- Support is also available to help you connect with disability staff at TAFE or university, or a disability employment service.
- Make contact with your local NDCO if you need further help or information. They can help you to make useful links with support.
- Write down the names and contact details of people who have been helpful – they may be a useful contact in the future.
