    The Australian Employers´ Network on Disability (formally known as Employers Making a Difference (EMAD)) is a not for profit organisation funded by its members to operate as a strategic business partner with companies, organisations and governments employing people with a disability.

    Centrelink's Career Information Centres offers a free service providing career information and assistance to students, unemployed people or those looking at changing jobs. They provide information and resources in accessing education, training and employment opportunities.

  • Careers Online
    This website provides career information such as resume writing, job vacancies, job guide, new apprenticeships, defence careers and quizes to assist you to choose a career.
  • Graduate Careers Australia website
    A comprehensive website that provides career and employment information for Australian graduates. Gradlink is the official website for the Graduate Careers Council of Australia.
  • My Career: Sydney Morning Herald
    This site provides a listing of jobs advertised in the Sydney Morning Herald as well as information about resumes, interview skills and careers information.

Disclosure of Disability in Employment

  • 'Choosing Your Path. Disclosure: It's A Personal Decision' (2003)
    This Resource has been developed for students and employees with disabilities and also for employers, educators and support services. The Resource provides information about:
    • options and pathways a person with a disability has when deciding to disclose their disability
    • the benefits and disadvantages of disclosing as well as some key considerations to achieving effective disclosure
    • rights, roles and responsibilities of employers, educators and support services when a person discloses a disability in post secondary education and employment.
  • Disclosure and Privacy (2006)
    This is part of a resource developed for jobseekers with disabilities and employers. The Disclosure section outlines the rights and responsibilities of jobseekers when considering disclosing a disability, including rights under federal privacy legislation.
  • Disclosure in the Application Process (2004) (PDF version)
    This is a Factsheet developed by the University of Tasmania Career Development and Employment Service. The Factsheet has been developed to provide choices in disclosing a disability when applying for employment.
  • The 411 on Disability Disclosure: A Workbook for Youth with Disabilities (2005)
    A workbook website that can assist you to learn about disability disclosure. It can assist you to make informed decisions about whether or not to disclose your disability and understand how that decision may impact on education, employment, and social lives. Employment Information for People with a Disability

  • Australasian Network of Students with Disabilities (ANSWD)
    ANSWD is a national student organisation for TAFE and university students with a disability. This is a peer support network that also provides information about education and employment opportunities for students with disabilities.
  • JAN (Job Accommodation Network):
    A US site that provides information, resources and links about employment for people with disabilities. The site is relevant for people with disabilities, private employers and government organisations.
  • JobAccess website
    A Department of Employment and Workplace Relations website that provides extensive information about the employment of people with disabilities. The site is relevant to the needs of people with disabilities, employers, co-workers and service providers.

    DWA is a national body that facilitates the provision of employment for people with disabilities by providing employers with a contact point for recruiting people with disabilities. Although the website is employer specific, there is some relevant information for employees with disabilities.
  • The Australian Employment Network on Disability website
    The Australian Employment Network on Disability is a member funded organisation that promotes and supports businesses that encourage people with a disability as employees, customers and suppliers. The website provides an Employer Directory of businesses that have been considered to have vision and commitment to the employment of people with disabilities.

Assistive Technology for People with Disabilities

  • Axistive – Assistive Technology News Portal
    This website offers free news, articles, product reviews and information about adaptive technology products. Here you will find information on how to use and find technology products to assist people with disabilities.
  • Green PCs
    Green PC's are recycled personal computers that are remade and repackaged into usable Internet-ready computers. The computers are made available to people with a low-income, individuals and community organisations. To access a Green PC computer, you must hold a current Health Care Card or are able to show your low income status in some other way.
  • Low Cost Internet
    This is a low cost dialup service for people with disabilities, the aged and veterans. This program that works with Technical Aid to the Disabled Australia (TADAust) and the communications provider, ispOne.
  • TECHASSIST
    TechAssist is for people who use assistive computer technology at work, while studying or at home. Specialised help can be hard to find, costly and delayed. TechAssist provides online support and training to you on your own computer. Technical support can include when your computer or program is not working properly or you are unsure about how to use specific technology programs.
  • Technical Aids for the Disabled (TAD):
    TAD is a volunteer service who provides technical aids for people with disabilities. Their role is to:
    • make and supply custom-designed aids, where commercial equipment is not suitable, utilising the skills of volunteers, health care and engineering professionals
    • provide computers on loan to people with disabilities
    • provide information about aids and technology, including technical solutions for people with disabilities.
  • Technical Equipment Program for People with Disabilities (TEP)
    TEP is a NSW Government initiative. This Program provides technical equipment for people with disabilities who are employed in the NSW Public Service or, in some circumstances, seeking Public Service appointment within Departments. TEP is currently administered by the NSW Department of Education and Training.

 

Transport

  • Taxi Transport Subsidy Review Submission: Vision Australia August 2004
    Vision Australia presented a submission to the Ministry of Transport outlining the issues related to the current Taxi Transport Subsidy Scheme.
